The untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 was finally released and now was more stable than the first day it was made available in the public. Thanks to the effort of the famous iOS hacker @pod2g for finding the exploit and made a jailbreak out of it. The Chronic-Dev Team has able to merge the latest untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 to the latest RedSn0w update which is version 0.9.10b1. The procedure is quiet simple than the previous versions and is very easy to use even for newbie in jailbreaking world.

This jailbreak is only available for all iDevices with A4 processors including the iPod Touch 3^rd and 4^th gen, iPhone 3G/3GS and the iPad 1. Please take note that this jailbreak will not work to iPhone 4S and the iPad 2.

Please take note that you need to have an iDevice running with iOS 5.0.1. If you haven’t updated yet, please update now before trying this procedure. For users that depend on unlock, use the Custom IPSW option found in RedSn0w before jailbreaking to preserve your baseband.

To jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 using RedSn0w 0.9.10b1, here are the steps:

1. Download RedSn0w 0.9.10b1 and save it on your desktop.
2. Turn your iPhone in DFU mode. If you do not know how to make your iPhone in DFU mode, just follow the onscreen instructions and you should be doing it correctly.
3. Check “Install Cydia” and click next.
4. RedSn0w will automatically jailbreak your iPhone or other iDevices running iOS 5.0.1 in just a few minutes. Just wait for the jailbreak to finish and you should have an untethered jailbroken iPhone after rebooting.

For a long period on waiting for the untethered jailbreak of iDevices running iOS 5.0.1, finally @pod2g of the Chronic-Dev Team announced that he has jailbroken an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1 successfully.

When Apple has seeded the latest iOS version, the Dev Team was concerned that perhaps it is not a good idea to update. But now that someone has proved the jailbreak is possible, it’s now safe to update into the iOS 5.0.1. Moreover, this jailbreak is untethered which can be more exciting when it will be released.

Right now, @pod2g is now testing the jailbreak for devices iPad 2 and iPhone 4S after successfully tested the original iPad, iPod touch 4^th gen, iPhone 3GS and Apple TV. If it will run successfully, an official jailbreak will be released soon after completion. The following video is a demo by @pod2g that an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 was confirmed.

In the past few months, Apple has been struggling to provide enough stocks for their latest smartphone, iPhone 4S. With high numbers of demand, some countries have not been able to acquire the iPhone 4S.

Like with the previous releases of any iPhone model, the iPhone 4S also comes with down turns. Some problems seen in the past few months include poor battery performance (due to iOS 5), audio echoes during phone calls and connection issues for both 3G and WiFi.

These problems have already reached Apple and now it was added that some users encountered “No SIM Card installed” error. Unlike the battery bug which is mostly felt by all the iPhone 4S owners, the “No SIM Card installed” error is probably lesser but it does bothered some of the users since it will make their handsets unusable when this occurs. Rebooting the device will fix the problem but it usually returns almost every day. It was not clear if the problem’s cause is due to hardware, software or the SIM card itself. The best solution is to consult your wireless carrier and ask for a SIM card replacement.

Everybody wants the new features brought by iOS 5 ever since it was announced by Steve Jobs last June. Well, like everybody else, I am also very excited to use the new features like the iMessage, Newstand, etc. But wait; don’t rush to the latest version of iOS especially if you rely on jailbreak!

If you are using a jailbroken iPhone at version 4.3.3, you still have the most stable jailbreak. If you are now using iOS 5, do not upgrade to iOS 5.0.1. This is because once you are on iOS 5.0.1, there is no way you can downgrade to any previous iOS versions.

This warning came from the Chronice-Dev Team spokesman @MuscleNerd from his tweet. But if you don’t care about jailbreak, it’s still better to have the latest iOS version on your iPhone.

Currently, the Chronic-Dev Team is doing their best to release the untethered jailbreak for the iOS 5 but we don’t exactly know when this will happen. The tweet was posted by @pod2g that a new bug he discovered will lead to an untethered jailbreak for the iOS 5. Let’s just hope that it will release before another update in Apple’s iOS.

On Wednesday, October 5^th, just one day after the iPhone 4S was launched, the co-founder of Apple has passed away. Steve jobs died of pancreatic cancer at the age 56, leaving the great Apple, Inc. to the hands of his successors. Steven Paul “Steve” Jobs was born on February 24, 1955. His biological father, Abdulfattah John Jandali, was a Syrian immigrant to the U.S. and her mother, Joanne Simpson, became pregnant. Mr. Jandali wanted to marry Joanne but her father opposed the marriage because of Mr. Jandali’s Syrian decent. Ms. Simpson then brought the baby to San Francisco for adoption to the couple Paul and Clara Jobs but promised to send Steve to a University. Ms. Simpson’s father died right after the adoption which freed her to marry Mr. Jandali. The couple has another child named Mona, Steve’s only real sister.

At the age of 21, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak who is 26 years old founded Apple Computer in his family garage in the year 1976. From that beginning, Apple has rose from scratch to riches which is now one of the top growing company in the whole world. Aside from the huge assets that the company has, the influence in modern technology made Apple to be incomparable as it immerges to be on top.

The start of iCloud service was introduced by Steve Jobs way back last June in the WWDC, replacing MobileMe that also promised to allow all iDevices to synchronize in a virtual memory called the cloud technology. The speculation regarding the low-end iPhone that will also come with the main iPhone 5 is also expected to hit the market because of its low price. The iCloud iPhone could be priced as low as $400 while the iPhone 5 would be around $650. In order to lower the cost effectively, Apple would utilize the existing hardware available for iPhone 4 but with lesser memory and will mostly depend on the cloud service provided by iCloud.com.

Reports regarding the next generation iPhones also states that it will now be 4G-capable. If this is true, this means that it could include a wider size on the device because the printed circuit could be increased in size.

As the iPhone 5 being the fully-featured device in launching, the cheaper iPhone could come as a support or as an alternative. This is the probable reason why Apple has not released an iPhone in the middle of the year since they are working for a two model.

The event will mainly introduce the next generation iPhone that could be called as iPhone 4S/5 or whatever Apple will name it. The next question follows, “when will the next generation iPhone be available to the public?” According to Boy Genius Report, October 14 is the date for launching in the United States together with the U.K., Japan, Germany and France. Other countries will soon follow after the initial launching.

If you will based it on the launching of the past two iPhone models (3GS/4), it takes 2-3 weeks from the date of announcement to go out in public. Thus confirming from the report BGR made sometime in the mid of October. It’s good to know that the next iPhone will be coming in October and not on November or later. This would definitely end the rumors created due to the excitement every Apple enthusiasts around the world.

It was confirmed lately that Apple will be launching new iPhone model in their October 4^th event to be held in Cupertino, California headquarters’ campus. The news came straight from Apple simply with a message “Let’s talk iPhone” to media outlets.

The press conference will be probably focused on iPhone (if you will base in the short message) but some speculations came out that the next generation iPhone will actually be in different models. This brought to the conclusion that more iPhone model will be revealed on the event. The possible next gen iPhone would then possess a dual-core A5 processor (the one from iPad 2), 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera with backlit sensor that will take high resolution pictures even in low-light conditions, according to 9to5mac. If the processor and RAM is true to what was rumored, the next generation iPhone will surely leave the latest Android phones in the graphics and gaming department since the A5 chip is expected to run nine times the current iPhone 4 processor.

When a reporter was asked about why the venue will be held in Cupertino and not in the usual Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, he answered:

“Why? That’s not entirely clear. Perhaps the release date was too much of a moving target to risk booking a large space like Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA), which has hosted a number of big product unveils in the past. Perhaps, the company felt a more intimate venue was best for newly installed CEO Tim Cook’s first media event. Perhaps YBCA was simply already booked. Whatever the reason, the world will get it’s first look at the next iPhone at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium in early October.”

This is also the first time we will see that the newly appointed CEO, Tim Cook, will be delivering the presentation for the event. It’s glad that Apple has now put out the conclusion for the rumors made in the past regarding the upcoming next generation iPhone. I am sure we are all excited to hear that on October 4.

Nicholas Allegra, better known as Comex, is the last hacker to provide a widely used jailbreak for Apple devices through JailbreakME 3.0 that targeted iOS 4.3 – 4.3.3. His jailbreak includes the first ever jailbreak for the iPad 2. Eventually Comex was then hired by Apple as an intern.

Now that Comex was gone in the jailbreak community, the Chronic-Dev Team is still here to step up the role in jalbreaking the upcoming iOS 5. As we near to the launching of iOS 5, many jailbreakers are wondering what the future holds. Since Apple has been planning to kill the jailbreaking in iOS 5, this leaves worry to some people especially that more and more hackers have been hired by Apple.

Since JailbreakME 3.0 was released, there are no more untethered jailbreak was developed for the iOS 4.3.4, 4.3.5 and the iOS 5 Betas. But we are rest assured that jailbreaking is still alive and well, according to the Chronic-Dev Team. In fact, they are “actively working” for untethered jailbreak in the upcoming iOS 5’s public launch.

Every Beta version of iOS 5 has also an accompanying tethered jailbreak via tools like RedSn0w and Sn0wbreeze. This enables developers to begin innovating on iOS 5 with third party widgets and tweaks. One of Chronic-Dev Team member, hacker for iOS 4.1 and 4.2.1 pod2g, told on his tweet:

While there is no official time frame for the launching of iOS 5 yet, we are still happy that the Chronic-Dev Team is doing their best for the untethered jailbreak to follow. And according to MuscleNerd, it is better to keep silent on what’s going on with the development of the team so that Apple will not have ideas on how to patch the upcoming jailbreak. As for now, I will stick to the stable 4.3.3 jailbreak before another jailbreak will come.
